![]() ![]() Other than Raiden and another surprise character addition (which you won't even recognize as significant if you haven't played MGS4), the story is very self-contained. This game takes place a couple years after MGS4, and mostly only contains references and enemies from the original series (Geckos and drones from MGS4, Rays from MGS2). This allowed him time for a much more hands-on role in the development of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP (which at the time was intended to be MGS5). The game was (somewhat) unique in that Kojima himself was only working as a support role, rather than being director/producer. For reasons I am not entirely familiar with, Kojima Productions thought that the project wasn't moving forward in the direction they were happy with, and nearly cancelled the project until the reigns were handed over to Platinum. The original game was "Metal Gear Solid: Rising", and was intended to be a stealth-action game bridging the gap between MGS2 and 4. ![]() Personally, it feels weird to play with a keyboard because I usually play different games like that, and it feels more normal to play with a controller, but that doesn't have anything to do with the control scheme. A lot of people think you need a controller for third person action games, but keyboard controls are not bad. In practice, mouse and keyboard works fine, any problems you might find with it is not the fault of the port. It may sound backwards because you'd think the mouse would "look around" but the problem is that you can't aim your slashes as accurately anymore with WASD you would only be able to attack in 3 different angles.Īnother possible advantage is that the keyboard control scheme has separate buttons for certain moves such as dodge, while with a controller you have to press X+A to dodge. The mouse is like the right stick, move it slowly and you change the angle you slash, left mouse button "applies" the slash, and if you move it quickly and it immediately attacks in that direction. Keyboard controls are like this: WASD is like the left stick, it moves the way you look. You can slash very quickly by flicking the right stick back and forth. The controller controls in blade mode are like this: left stick moves your view while right stick aims the direction you slash in (horizontal, diagonal and everything in between), and releasing right stick back to neutral "applies" the slash. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch. ![]() /r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
